A test is a question. Ask the right one.
We can measure a hundred things in one tube. That is exactly the problem — test enough markers in a well person and something will come back flagged, and you will spend three months and a lot of worry chasing it. So this page starts with which tests are worth doing.
Know the question — “Am I low in iron because I am tired” is a question. “Show me everything” is a shopping list, and it answers nothing
Broad panels on a well person — Roughly one marker in twenty falls outside the range in a perfectly healthy person. Order sixty markers and you should expect a flag
A result is not a diagnosis — Reference ranges are population ranges. Slightly out of range can be entirely normal for you, and firmly in range can still be a problem
Incidental findings — One odd number leads to a repeat, then a scan, then a specialist. Sometimes that saves a life and sometimes it is three months of worry over nothing
Which is why we say no — We do not sell a hundred-marker wellness panel. If you ask for one we will ask what you are trying to find out, and quite often the answer is a shorter list

Time of day — Cortisol and testosterone are highest in the morning and a mid-afternoon sample can look abnormal when it isn't
Cycle timing — Several reproductive hormones only make sense on particular days of a cycle. Tell us and we will book the right one
Biotin supplements — High-dose biotin, common in hair and nail supplements, interferes with several assays including thyroid. Pause it for a couple of days and tell whoever takes the sample
Recent illness or a hard workout — Both move inflammatory markers and muscle enzymes. Leave a couple of weeks after being unwell
Water — Drink normally beforehand. A dehydrated arm makes a fifteen-minute appointment into a twenty-five minute one
With a clinician's comment — Plain words about what is worth acting on, what is normal variation, and what deserves a conversation with your own doctor
If something is significantly abnormal — We telephone you, the same day, and tell you exactly who to contact. We do not leave that news in a portal to be found at midnight
To your own doctor — Sent on request, in a format they will accept. It belongs in your medical record rather than in a folder on your desktop
What we will not do — Diagnose you by email, or start treatment. Interpretation in the context of your history is a doctor's job and we are the laboratory
What the visit is actually like
Fifteen minutes
Booked slots, so nobody sits in a waiting room fasting for an hour longer than they planned.
Trained phlebotomists
It is all they do. Say if you are nervous or a difficult stick and you will get the person who is best at it.
Nervous or faint?
You can lie down for it. Tell us when you book and the room is set up before you walk in.
Accreditation
Name your laboratory's accreditation and its number here, and link the register. In testing that is the whole credential.
Step-free
Ground floor rooms at every collection point, with space for a chair and someone with you.
No supplements sold
We do not sell vitamins, and nobody here is paid on what your result leads you to buy. That conflict is the reason to choose a laboratory over a wellness brand.
