Most of what keeps a bike safe takes ten minutes and costs nothing: chain, tyres, pressures, pads, lights. Come and learn it on a Tuesday evening. Then bring us the jobs that genuinely need a torque wrench and a tyre machine.

Fuel, battery, tyres, damp. Bikes rot standing still more than moving.
Chain and sprockets — Tension, dry links, hooked teeth. The cheapest part on a bike and the one that ruins the most days
Brakes — Pad thickness, disc lip, fluid colour. Fluid that has gone dark has absorbed water and boils sooner
Lights and levers — Bulbs, indicators, brake light on both controls, and levers that have not been bent by a drop
Fasteners — Axle nuts, caliper bolts, and anything somebody else has had off recently
What we'll say — If it is fine, we say it is fine. Riding away with nothing bought is a perfectly good outcome

Minor service
- Oil, filter, chain, brakes, levels
- Full safety check written up
- Most bikes done the same day
- Consumables at cost, listed
Major service
- Everything in the minor
- Valve clearances where the schedule calls for it
- Coolant, brake fluid and plugs
- Two days, because rushing this one shows
Tyres fitted
- Balanced, new valve, old one disposed of
- Wheel out and back in, torqued properly
- Bring the wheel only and it is $30
- We will fit a tyre you supplied
Do yourself, once we've shown you — Pad swaps on most calipers, oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs on an accessible engine
Bring us — Anything with a torque figure on a wheel, brake or head — and anything you would have to buy a tool for once
Definitely bring us — Tyres, fork seals, valve clearances, bleeding ABS brakes, wheel bearings
Never anyone, anywhere — Riding on a tyre you know is finished because payday is Friday. Come in — we have sorted worse and said nothing
Gear, honestly
Fit beats brand
A mid-price helmet that fits your head shape protects better than an expensive one that doesn't. We measure and we let you sit in it.
After any impact
A helmet that has hit the road is finished, even with no visible damage. The liner crushes once, by design.
The age question
Most makers say around five years from first use. It is guidance rather than law, and a garage-kept lid ages slower than a daily one.
Gloves first
If the budget only stretches so far, buy gloves before anything with a logo. Hands go down first, every single time.
Armour and abrasion
Two separate things. Fashion jeans with a knee pad in them are not riding trousers, and the label will tell you which you're holding.
Try it, walk about
Twenty minutes in the shop beats a return label. Nothing here is sold on a photograph.
