Farm shop & butchery · four miles off the A-road
Open Wednesday to Sunday.
Everything in the shop was grown here or within about thirty miles. If we didn't grow it, the label says who did.

Closed — Monday and Tuesday, all year
Parking — Free, on grass — firm in summer, come in boots after rain
Sat-nav — Takes you past the entrance. It's the second gate, after the postbox
Dogs — Welcome outside and in the yard, not in the butchery
Card and cash — Both, and there's no minimum spend

What's in, and when
Rough guide — the weather moves everything by a fortnight either way. The board at the gate is always right, and the newsletter is the only thing we update every week.
Spring — Asparagus, purple sprouting, rhubarb, the first salad
Early summer — Strawberries, broad beans, new potatoes, soft herbs
High summer — Tomatoes, courgettes, raspberries, sweetcorn
Autumn — Apples and pears, squash, plums, the first game
Winter — Roots, brassicas, stored apples, and the whole butchery
All year — Beef, lamb, pork, eggs, milk, bread on shop days

What's in the shop
Butchery
Our own beef, lamb and pork, hung properly. Ask for a cut you can't see and we'll do it while you wait.
Vegetables
Cut that morning on shop days. Wonky, dirty, and priced accordingly.
Eggs & dairy
Our eggs, milk from the next valley, cheese from three counties.
Bakery
Bread baked here Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It goes by noon.
Larder
Honey, preserves and flour from named local makers — the label says who.
Boxes
A weekly veg box you collect from the shop. No subscription lock-in.
Order ahead
Collection from the shop — we don't post fresh food and we'd rather not pretend we can.
Where it actually comes from
Grown or reared here — All the beef, lamb, pork, eggs and most of the veg
Within thirty miles — Milk, cheese, flour, honey, and the apples we run out of
From further — Coffee, citrus, a few storecupboard things — labelled, because pretending otherwise is a lie
Our animals — Named field, named abattoir, twelve miles away. Ask and we'll tell you which
Certification — Inspected and certified by the scheme on the door — check us on their register, not on our say-so

★★★★★
“Drove past for six years assuming it was a farm gate with a sign. It is a proper butcher's counter and the vegetables are cheaper than the supermarket.”
A regular, eventually
What's in this week
One email on Tuesday night: what's been picked, what's in the butchery, and whether the lane is passable.
Live preview — every color, word and block is editable after you pick it.
