Tax returns, prepared and filed

Get it off your desk.

We prepare your return, show you every figure before anything is sent, and file it the moment you say yes. For most people the dread is considerably bigger than the return.

That clock is our own cut-off, not the tax office's. We stop taking new returns three weeks before the deadline, in our local time, because a rushed return is how mistakes get made — and a mistake costs a great deal more than being early.
What being late actually does
Miss the date — A penalty lands automatically — even if you turn out to owe nothing at all
Keep missing it — Penalties arrive in stages, and each stage is larger than the one before
Interest — Runs on the tax and on the penalties, from the day it fell due
Appealing one — Possible, but it needs a reason the tax office accepts. 'I forgot' is not one
Who decides all of it — The tax office. We cannot waive a penalty, and neither can anyone else selling you a service
None of that is us trying to frighten you into buying something. It is simply what the rules do on their own, which is exactly why we would rather you filed early with somebody else than late with us.

What we need from you

What you were paid

Payslips, year-end summaries, or your own invoices if you bill for yourself. Whatever shows the money coming in.

What you paid out for work

Receipts, mileage, the phone bill, tools, the fee you paid us last year. If you're not sure whether something counts, send it and we'll tell you.

Anything else that earned

Rent, dividends, interest, a side business, crypto, a property you sold. Leaving one out is what turns a return into an enquiry.

Last year's return

If you still have it. It saves us an hour, and saves you the same hour explaining what happened.

Quoted before we start and it does not move once we've seen the paperwork. If your return turns out simpler than you thought, you pay the lower price rather than the one we quoted. Years still outstanding are priced per year, and we tell you the whole figure at the outset.
How it goes
You book a slot — Twenty minutes, on the phone or across a desk
You send the pile — Photos are fine. Shoeboxes are fine. We have genuinely seen worse than yours
We prepare it — And come back with the figures and every question in one message, not five
You approve it — Nothing is filed until you have seen the number and said yes in writing
We file — Same day, and the submission receipt goes straight to you to keep
Four years unfiled and I had stopped opening the letters. They started with the oldest one and never once turned it into a lecture.

Self-employed, retail

I handed over a carrier bag of receipts and got back one message with six questions in it. That was the entire extent of my involvement.

Contractor

Book a slot
Twenty minutes. Bring what you have and what you're worried about — you'll come off the call with a fixed price and a date, whether or not you go ahead with us.
Lines are open weekdays, and longer as the deadline gets closer. If you have already had a letter from the tax office, say so when you call and we'll move you up.
