Everything here is cheap for a reason. The reason is on the item.
Clearance is not a discount, it is stock that is not coming back. End of line, over-ordered, last season's spec, a colour nobody wanted, or a slight second — which one it is decides whether you have found a bargain or somebody else's mistake.

The last one is a legal requirement in many places and a habit almost nowhere. If a "was" price on your own site was never charged for a meaningful period, take it off rather than defend it.
The five reasons something ends up here
One of these is attached to every item below. Two of them mean you have found a genuine bargain, two mean check carefully, and one means read the description twice.
End of line — nothing wrong with it — We are simply not making or stocking it again. This is the best kind of clearance and it is usually the cheapest thing on the page for the least reason
Over-ordered — we bought too many — Also nothing wrong with it. Somebody here was optimistic in March and you get the benefit, which is a more honest description than "limited time offer"
Superseded — last season's spec — It works exactly as it always did, and a newer version exists. We say what actually changed rather than implying it was cosmetic, because sometimes it was not
Unpopular colour or size — check you are not the reason — It is still here because most people did not want it. If you are one of the people who does, it is the best value on the page. If you are talking yourself into it, it is not
Slight second — a described cosmetic fault — Photographed, described, and never functional. A mark, a misprint, a bent box. You are buying the fault knowingly, which is why it cannot be returned for that fault
What never reaches clearance — Anything safety-critical, anything expired, anything recalled, and anything we would not use ourselves. Those get destroyed rather than discounted, and no price makes that a different decision

Returns on clearance
Clearance is where shops write "final sale" and hope. Here is what that phrase can and cannot do, and most of what it cannot do is decided by law rather than by us.
"Final sale" does not remove your rights if it is faulty — In most places a statutory right against a faulty item survives any label a shop puts on it. We do not use the phrase at all, and anywhere you see it this week is worth a second look
Change of mind: thirty days, same as anything else — A discount does not change how long you get. If a shop shortens its returns window specifically on reduced items, that is a policy choice rather than a rule they are following
A described fault is not a returnable fault — The scuff in the photograph is the scuff you bought. Anything NOT described is a different matter entirely and comes straight back at our cost
You cannot exchange for another size — There is no other size — that is what clearance means. Measure before you order, because the alternative here is a refund rather than a swap
Refunds go back the way you paid — Not a credit note, not a gift card, and not "store credit only on sale items". Five working days from the item reaching us
Warranty is unchanged — A reduced price does not reduce the guarantee. A slight second carries exactly the same cover as a full-price one, minus the fault you were told about
