A certificate is not a card, a card is not competence, and the only body that can say what your card covers is the one that issued it. So: which card your site actually wants, what we are approved to deliver and what we are not, and what happens when yours expires — which nobody is obliged to remind you about.

The first and last numbers are the position, not a boast. Everything we deliver is awarded by a named body and marked by an assessor, and a provider who can promise you a pass is promising something they do not control.
Which card does your site actually want?
Ask before you book, in writing, and bring us the answer. Almost every wasted training day starts with somebody guessing this, and it is a five-minute question.
The site decides what it will accept — A principal contractor can require more than the law does, and often does. Their requirement wins on their site and nobody else can overrule it for you — not us, and not your employer
The awarding body decides what a card covers — Not the trainer and not the person holding it. Categories, endorsements and renewal rules all belong to the scheme, and its wording is the only wording that counts
Every real scheme has a free register — use it — You can check any card against the issuing body's own records. If a qualification cannot be verified anywhere outside the provider's own paperwork, that tells you what it is worth
"Accredited" and "certificate of attendance" are different things — One is a qualification awarded by a body; the other is a note saying you were in the room. Both can be useful and only one gets you through a gate
A course is not automatically a card — Some cards need a course, a separate assessment and a health check, in that order, with weeks between them. Start early enough that the sequence fits

Training we run that carries no card at all — Toolbox talks, inductions and refreshers written for your own risk assessments. Genuinely worth doing and genuinely not a qualification — we will not let either be mistaken for the other

Registration 07:45, starts 08:00 and it does start at 08:00 — late arrivals cannot be assessed and cannot be squeezed in. Finishes mid-afternoon with the test on the day.

Both days, consecutively, and you must attend all of both. Missing an afternoon means resitting the whole course, which is the awarding body's rule rather than ours.

Three consecutive days with continuous assessment. The three-year certificate is the awarding body's, and the annual refresher is strongly recommended rather than required.

For cards inside their renewal window. Bring the card itself, not a photograph of it, and check the expiry before you book rather than on the day.
Replace these with your own calendar. Keep the start-time warning on the first one — a course that quietly waits for latecomers is a course that penalises everybody who arrived on time.
Your card expires, and nobody has to tell you
Not the awarding body, not your employer, and not the site. The first person who checks is usually a gateman on a Monday morning, and by then the course is three weeks away.
We will remind you ninety days out — Whether or not you book the renewal with us, and whether or not you are still with the same employer. It costs us nothing and it is the single most useful thing a training provider can do
