Roofing · storm damage · free inspection

The crew knocking on your door tonight is not from here.

After a hailstorm the vans arrive within a day, take a deposit, and are three states away by the time the ridge leaks. We have had the same yard on Kiln Road for twenty-two years. Come and stand in it.

Six things to ask before you sign anything
“Where is your yard?” — Ask for a street address you could drive to today, not a PO box and not a truck
“Show me the licence and the insurance certificate” — Both, in your hand, before anyone climbs. A real roofer expects the question
“Why do you need money up front?” — We do not take a deposit on an insurance job. Materials are ordered on our account, not yours
“We'll cover your deductible” — Walk away. Your deductible is what you agreed to pay, and waiving it is fraud in most states — with your name on the claim
“Just sign here so we can inspect” — That is often an assignment of benefits: it hands your claim to them. Read every line, or take it away and read it tonight
“This price is only good today” — A roof is not a timeshare. Any honest quote is still honest on Friday
None of this is about us. Print it, take it to whoever you hire, and if we come off worse for it then you have hired better.
What insurers pay for, and what they refuse
Hail bruising — Usually paid. Soft spots where the granules are knocked off in a circle — invisible from the ground
Wind-lifted or missing shingles — Usually paid, if the date of loss matches a recorded storm
Impact damage — Paid. A branch through the deck is not an argument anyone has
Even granule loss all over — Refused. That is age, and no report will turn it into a storm
Ponding, moss, blocked valleys — Refused as maintenance — and a denied claim on file makes the next one harder
The date of loss — Most policies give you a window measured in months. If a storm went through in spring, get looked at now
We will tell you which of these you have before you file. A claim that was never going to pay costs you a denial on your record and nothing else.

What we come out for

Storm inspection

Roof, flashing, gutters and vents, photographed and written up. Free, and yours whether you use us or not.

Repairs

A dozen shingles and a lead flashing is a repair. We say so even when the replacement is easier money.

Full replacement

Tear-off, deck inspection, underlay, new covering. One crew, and the skip goes when they do.

Emergency tarp

Water coming in tonight: we get it covered first and work out whose bill it is afterwards.

Gutters & fascia

Half of what people call a roof leak starts in a blocked valley or a rotten fascia board.

Flat roofs & skylights

Single-ply, felt and the two places a pitched roof almost always fails first.

How the claim actually pays

We look first

Free inspection and a photo report. If there is no storm damage, we tell you and you file nothing.

You call your insurer

You open the claim, not us. Give them the date of loss — our report has it on the front page.

The adjuster visits

We meet them on the roof and walk the same slopes. Two sets of photos beat one memory.

Scope and supplement

If the scope misses the underlay or the code upgrade, we document it and it is re-priced. This is normal, not a fight.

Two cheques, one deductible

Most policies pay the depreciated value first, then the rest once the work is done. You pay your deductible. That is the whole sum.

We are roofers, not your public adjuster or your lawyer — we document what we can see and you deal with your insurer. Anyone offering to run your claim for you is selling something else.

A range rather than a per-square figure, because the honest answer is that nobody knows the price until the old roof comes off and we can see the deck. Anything found is quoted before it is fixed.

Water coming in tonight: call rather than fill this in. We tarp first and sort the paperwork tomorrow.

The address is on this page on purpose. It is the single fastest way to tell a local roofer from a storm crew, and you should ask it of everyone who quotes you.
