How to read any driving school's pass rate
The national average sits near half — So a school advertising ninety-five percent is not teaching better than everyone else. It is counting differently
The easiest way to a high rate — Only put forward pupils who are certain to pass, and keep everyone else in lessons for another three months
First time, or eventually? — A first-time rate and an eventual rate are wildly different numbers, and adverts rarely say which one they mean
Whose number is it? — Ask for your own instructor's rate, not the school's average. You are being taught by a person, not by a logo
Where it is published — In most countries the testing authority publishes per-instructor figures. Ask for the reference and check it yourself

How many lessons will I actually need?
The honest answer — Around forty hours of instruction plus twenty of private practice. That is the testing authority's own figure, not ours
Younger learners — Often a little fewer. Reaction times and confidence do most of that work
Learning later in life — Often a few more, and that is completely normal. Nobody is behind — there is no class to keep up with
Private practice — The cheapest hours you will ever buy. An hour with a calm relative between lessons is worth two more with us
When we can tell you — Not at lesson one. By about lesson six we can give you a realistic number and we will keep updating it
Intensive courses — They suit a confident learner with a deadline and some experience. For a nervous beginner they are an expensive way to fail

Those are all the prices there are. No booking fee, no card fee, no charge for cancelling with a day's notice, and the government test fee goes to the government — we never mark it up.
What a lesson with us is like
Dual controls
The instructor has a brake and a clutch. You cannot break the car and you cannot cause a crash in your first hour.
One to one
Never shared, never two pupils in the car. The whole hour is yours, including the awkward bits.
A written record
What you did, what to work on, and where you are against the test standard. Emailed after every lesson.
Picked up from anywhere
Home, school, work. Lessons start where you are rather than in a car park across town.
Theory help included
The theory test is yours to pass, but the practice questions and the hazard clips come free with lessons.
Change instructor freely
Not clicking with someone is normal and it is nobody's fault. Ask the office and it is arranged quietly.
Test day, and what happens if it doesn't go your way
We book it when you're ready — Not when you ask. Sitting a test early costs you a fee, a wait and a lot of confidence
Bring two things — Your provisional licence and your theory pass certificate. Without both, the test is cancelled and the fee is gone
The car — Ours, insured for the test, and the one you have been learning in. You can use a family car if it meets the rules — ask first
If you fail — You will be told exactly why, and we will have watched it happen. We book the next one when the faults are fixed, not the next morning
The waiting list — Retests can be weeks out in some areas. That is the authority's queue and no school can jump it, whatever they hint
Afterwards — Motorway and night lessons are worth more than any badge. A pass is a licence to keep learning, not proof you have finished

Book a first lesson
Nervous is the most common answer we get and it is not a problem to solve before booking — it is the thing the first lesson is for. Say so on the form and we will start somewhere quiet.
