Power is the easy part.

Any shop with a laptop can add thirty percent. The work is doing it without wrecking a gearbox, voiding your policy or failing an emissions test — so this page starts with the boring paperwork and gets to the graphs afterwards.

Swap these for your own builds. Photograph each car finished and in daylight — a dyno graph proves the number, but nobody ever booked a build because of a graph.
Two phone calls before you spend a penny
Your insurer — Every modification has to be declared, including software you cannot see. An undeclared remap can void the policy outright — not raise the premium, void it
Whoever owns the car — On finance, PCP or a lease the car is not yours yet, and modifying it almost always breaches the agreement. Ask them in writing first
Your warranty — A maker can refuse a powertrain claim on a tuned car, and most will. Some are relaxed about a wheel bearing; none are relaxed about a turbo
The resale — A modified car sells to a smaller pool of buyers. Keeping the stock parts in a box is worth real money later
What we do about it — We keep your original file, log the date, and give you a written spec sheet you can send to an insurer
If any of that changes your mind, it should have. We would rather lose the booking than tune a car that turns out to belong to a finance company.
What actually gains, and what doesn't
Turbocharged petrol — The real one. Typical stage-one figures are worth having, and the standard hardware usually copes
Turbo diesel — Torque rather than headline power, and the gearbox becomes the limit long before the engine does
Naturally aspirated — Software alone gains very little. We will say so rather than sell you a file — cams, exhaust and compression are the honest route and they cost real money
Hybrid and electric — A different world. The software is locked, the traction system is high voltage, and we do not touch either
At the wheels, or at the crank? — The trade's favourite fudge. Every figure we quote is measured at the wheels, and you get the graph either way
A number is not a feeling — Where the torque arrives matters more than the peak. A car that pulls from 2,000rpm feels faster than one with a bigger number at 6,000

Talk about a build
A remap alone is the cheap half. Anything beyond stage one is quoted as a whole plan, because adding power to a car that cannot stop or cool itself is how people end up with an expensive paperweight.

The order things should happen in

Tyres and brakes

Before any power. Nobody has ever been hurt by too much grip, and the cheapest upgrade on this list is a good tyre.

Servicing

Fresh oil, plugs and filters. Tuning a tired engine finds every weakness it had, all at once.

Cooling

Intercooler and oil temperature. Heat is what turns a fast car into a slow one after three laps.

Clutch and drivetrain

The first thing torque breaks. On diesels it is usually the limiting factor, not the engine.

Fuelling and airflow

Pump, injectors, intake. Only once the rest can survive what they enable.

Then software

Last, on the dyno, with all of the above in place. This is the twenty minutes everyone thinks is the whole job.

What we will not do, whoever asks
Emissions equipment removal — No DPF, EGR or catalyst deletes. Illegal for road use in most places, an automatic inspection failure, and a shop that offers it will cut other corners too
Speed limiter removal on commercial vehicles — It is there by law and it is not ours to take out
Big power on stock internals — We will quote you the engine build it actually needs instead. Saying yes here is how a shop gets a reputation for grenading engines
A car we have not seen — No emailed files, no remote flashes. If it has not been on our dyno, it has not been tuned by us
Anything undeclared — If the insurer and the owner have not been told, we do not start. That is the whole policy and it has no exceptions

Book a dyno day, or ask about your car

An honest answer on the finance question costs you nothing and saves us both a difficult conversation later. Plenty of people book the dyno session first and decide afterwards — that is a perfectly good plan.

Saturdays are dyno days only and they book out weeks ahead. Mid-week is quieter, cheaper for a build and easier to talk properly.
